I’m not a huge sports bettor personally, but I know a lot of sports bettors are, and we are now in the midst of one of the biggest sports betting seasons of the year. The 2010-2011 football season is well under way now and we’re all getting a pretty good idea of where the teams stand this year.
I guess this has sort of turned into a running theme with blog posts about outside factors on poker. The subject of sleeping habits is rarely discussed by poker players, but I think it has a bigger effect on our results than we give it credit for. This is an especially important subject for professional poker players because it’s so easy to fall into poor sleeping habits when they don’t have to clock in by a certain time every day.  Sleep does a body good.
After writing my last post about diet and poker, it got me to thinking about other external factors that can affect our poker games. I’ve always been a big fan of both cardio and muscle building, and thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss as well. In my opinion, a healthy body leads to a stronger poker game.
 I apologize for this picture. Does a healthy diet improve your results at the poker tables? I’ve heard a lot of skepticism regarding this issue, but I have to say it absolutely does. A healthy diet helps you in all areas of life, including your mental faculty. With poker being the mentally demanding game that it is, you can bet your ass your diet counts.
“Bull Poker” is a genius and enjoyable game in which a group of poker fans sit at a table and play poker in the middle of a bullfighting arena. An irritated thousand pound bull is then released into the arena, and the last player to get up and make a dash for safety wins. Any players who are mauled or knocked off their feet are disqualified. The good news is that sometimes the participants get to wear foam vests.
