Absolute Poker Tournaments
Absolute Poker tournaments have come a long ways in the last few years. This once paltry tournament site is now one of the best places for poker tournaments on the internet. Improved software, increased traffic and lots of big guaranteed tournaments have turned Absolute Poker into an easy pick for tournament players.
If you visit Absolute Poker and download the software, you can check out their tournament selection for yourself. There are dozens of freeroll tournaments to choose from plus tournaments that cost anywhere between $0.25 and $1,000. The low stakes tournaments are incredibly easy and the high stakes tournaments often have gigantic prize pools.

Final table deal making is fully supported by Absolute Poker, and that is a very cool feature. When you make it to the final table, a little button pops up and asks if you would like to make a deal. If all the players at the table hit the “yes” button, the tournament pauses while the players discuss a deal. An Absolute Poker employee then joins the chat and arrange the splitting up of prizes. If the players fail to reach a deal, the tournament simply continues on as normal with the original payouts.
Absolute Poker’s tournaments come in all shapes and sizes as well. There are all sorts of different freezeout tournaments, bounty tournaments, sniper tournaments, turbos, ultra turbos, rebuys, deep stacks and more. These tournaments sometimes seat 9 players at a time, 6 players, 4 players and even offer multi-table heads-up tournaments. That’s not even mentioning all the different types of SNG tournaments.
Absolute Poker Guaranteed Tournaments
Absolute Poker has quite a few guaranteed prize pool tournaments every week. These tournaments are ones in which Absolute Poker guarantees the prize pool will be some certain amount no matter how many players show up. So if Absolute Poker guarantees a $100,000 tournament, there will be $100,000 to fight for – even if only 30 players participate.
The biggest guaranteed tournament at Absolute Poker is the weekly $200,000 Guaranteed. This tournament takes place every Sunday at 4:00PM ET and costs $215 to enter. There are also lots of satellite tournaments every week that can get you a seat for just a few bucks. Every player starts out with 3,000 chips and then receives a $215 bounty every time they knock out one of the Absolute Poker / Ultimate Bet pros.

Also on Sundays is the $100,000 Guaranteed at 2:00 PM. This tournament isn’t as popular as the $200K so it costs $530 to play. If that’s a little steep, you will find plenty of satellite tournaments leading up to this one as well. The cool thing about the bigger buyin is that it restricts the number of players in the tournament. This isn’t one of those $20 tournaments where you have 5,000 people competing for the same prize pool. It only takes 200 people to meet the guarantee with this one.
In addition to these two big tournaments, Absolute Poker hosts a variety of smaller guarantees. Just a few examples include the $50K Saturday, $25K Saturday and the $40K Saturday. The biggest guarantees take place on the weekends and then the smaller guarantees are held throughout the week.
Absolute Poker Satellite Tournaments
There are lots of satellites at Absolute Poker as well. In a satellite tournament, the top finishers win seats to bigger tournaments instead of cash prizes. For example, Absolute Poker regularly hosts satellite tournaments that send payers to the World Series of Poker with all expenses paid. Many players have gotten to play at the WSOP after qualifying through tournaments at Absolute Poker.
Absolute Poker also hosts satellite tournaments to other major live events as well as to bigger buyin online tournaments. For example, if you don’t have a big enough bankroll to justify spending $530 to play in the $100K Saturday, you can play in small buyin satellites and win your way in. Absolute Poker even has satellite tournaments to satellite tournaments for the biggest events.
Absolute Poker Step Tournaments
Step tournaments are single table tournaments that are arranged in a series of 10 steps. Players can buy in at any level and then work their way up to the final step. At the 10th step, the prize is an all expenses paid trip to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. If you place well in a step tournament, you get to move up to the next level for free. If you don’t win the tournament but still do well, you’ll have a chance to retry that step again for free. If you get knocked out early, you have to start all the way over.
Absolute Poker’s step tournaments are basically a series of satellite tournaments that lead up to the big one. The lowest step costs $0.10 and the buyins increase from there. You can buy in at any level you want and work your way up without putting in any additional money. If you have the funds, you can even buy in directly to step 10 for $2,350. Win that tournament and you’ll be in Vegas in no time.
